On Sept 23, 2017 The Grand Woolly River Ride will commemorate Canada 150th birthday, as well as the 15th anniversary of the Region of Waterloo's Arts Fund. Picture a flotilla of 150 canoes and 15 kayaks, dressed in donated knits and fabrics making their way from Meyers Landing to Dickson Park in Cambridge. The textiles will be cleaned, repurposed and auctioned at a "Bring it on Home Party" to benefit local charities. This project, the brainchild of local fibre artist Sue Sturdy, will involve diverse groups within our community collaborating to celebrate Cambridge's rich history in textiles and to create a large piece of public art for Canada's 150th birthday. To join us contact the project via Facebook or email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Help us salute Canda and Cambridge!
